INNOVATIVE WORK REPORT
INNOVATIVE WORK REPORT
INTRODUCTION
An innovative work can be defined as a " new idea, device or method". It is something original and more effective and as a consequence new that 'breaks into' the pupil . Two interesting dimensions of innovation including degree of novelty and type of innovation. Innovative work should be a catalyst to growth . Innovation may be linked to positive changes in efficiency, productivity, quality, competitiveness and intellectual development. Through innovative work the teacher can improve students performance by providing group work opportunities and resources to innovate. It is necessary to create and nurture an environment of innovation.
DESCRIPTION OF INNOVATIVE
As a part of my teaching practice phase II, I adopted an innovating work based on the ninth standard chapters. I included all my teaching practice lessons. It was 'The jungle air crash',' On killing a tree',' The last leaf' and 'Happiness machine'. I made some exercise sheet from the chapters and named 'Play N Learn' .I have made the cover page according to the chapter a prayer in the spring by Robert Frost . The flowers indicate the spring season.
'The jungle air crash' activity help the students to develop their practical knowledge by answering to the do's and don'ts during a natural calamity. It also helps the child to develop his/her literature by viewing or understanding the news report.
The activity of 'On killing a tree 'make the students' mind to compare the life of a tree with human beings and develop a sympathy for the tree. This help them to get awareness to the ill effects of cutting trees and also make them to understand the moral behind the lesson. It also helps them to develop their vocabulary.
'The last leaf 'activity help the students to do about different professions and develops their logical capability by unscrambling the jumbled words. The other activity help the child to know more about the story. It improve their reading ability.
'The happiness machine' activity creates interest in students by viewing the story in pictorial form. This also make them aware of framing sentences. Children get the 'feeling of the lesson' which cannot be obtained by just reading the lesson.
'Modal verbs ' help the children to use in different situations . They can clearly understand the rules of modal verbs . Most common errors also included in this.
ADVANTAGES OF INNOVATIONS
The biggest challenge any teacher faces is capturing the students' attention and putting across ideas in such a way that it stays with them long after they have left the classroom. For this to happen ,classroom experience should be redefined and innovative ideas that make teaching learning methods more effective should be implemented. It helps the teacher to reinvent their teaching methods and make their classes interesting. The use of innovative methods in the classroom has the potential not only to improve education, but also to empower people, strengthen governance and galvanized the effort to achieve the human development goal for the country.
REFLECTION AND CONCLUSION
Creativity may be defined as the ability or capacity of a person to discover and explore new areas to create a new process including the rearrangement or reshaping what already exist . Creativity to the artist is the ability to evolve new approaches forms and new materials . To the scientist creativity is the ability to explore and discover dynamic methods of teaching learning.
Here I tried to demonstrate few chapters through activities . I hope it will be very useful for the students. All the pages include many activities . Children could learn the things through playing so, I named' Play N Learn ' for it. The main purpose of this work was to understand the summary of the chapters . Here , I decided to use many interesting materials like pista shells, alphabets ,placards etc.
Children were very interested for doing the activities. They were familiarizing with the chapters unknowingly. I could notice a change in their attitude for studying. Each pictures was telling all the story of the chapters. They enjoyed and studied the contents given in the exercise book. Through this book, I found that students were really concentrating on all the questions and answers as they predicted that I would ask them repeated questions. So, they were more prepared and energetic.
